Building a safe and trustworthy platform is at the core of everything we do at Tutorverse. Here's how we protect our community.
Identity Verification
While not all tutors are required to be verified, many choose to complete our identity check to build trust. When a tutor is verified, they receive an ID Verified badge on their profile. This signifies that:
- They have uploaded a valid government-issued ID (South African ID, Passport, or Driver's Licence).
- They have provided a matching live selfie.
- Their documents have been manually reviewed by our team.
Credential Verification
Tutors can optionally verify their academic qualifications. Verified credentials are displayed as badges on the tutor's profile, giving students added confidence.
Financial Protection
- Secure Handling: When you book a lesson, your payment is held securely by Tutorverse (not paid directly to the tutor). Funds are only released after the lesson is successfully completed.
- Automated Payouts: Our daily payout engine ensures tutors are paid fairly and promptly, with full transaction transparency.
- Dispute resolution: If something goes wrong, our Dispute Resolution process ensures a fair review.
Communication Safety
- All communication between students and tutors happens within the platform's Messages system.
- This keeps conversations documented and allows our team to intervene if inappropriate behaviour is reported.
Tutor Accountability
- Tutors who cancel lessons, receive negative reviews, or breach platform policies may receive infractions.
- Repeated infractions can result in reduced visibility, suspension, or removal from the platform.
- Infraction severity ranges from low (minor policy breach) to high (critical violations such as no-shows or inappropriate conduct).
Reporting Issues
If you experience any safety concerns, you can:
- Report the issue directly via the Help section.
- Use the Dispute system for lesson-related problems.
- Contact our support team via the Contact page.
