Verification is a highly recommended (but not mandatory) process to ensure the safety and security of the Tutorverse community. If you are a tutor, completing the identification process helps you stand out and earns you the ID Verified badge on your profile, which significantly increases student trust and bookings.
What Is Required for Verification?
To verify your account, you will need to provide:
- Government-Issued Identification: A valid South African ID, Passport, or Driver's Licence.
Our team checks that the name on your document matches the name on your Tutorverse profile, and that you are over 18. We do not compare your profile picture against your ID document, and we do not carry out criminal record checks.
The Verification Process
- Go to your Tutor Dashboard.
- Navigate to Profile → Verification.
- Upload a clear photo of your ID document.
- Our team will review your application within 24–48 hours.
- You will receive an email notification once your verification is approved or if additional information is needed.
Credential Verification (Optional)
In addition to identity verification, tutors can optionally verify their academic qualifications to earn trust badges:
- Navigate to Profile → Credentials.
- Upload supporting documents such as degree certificates, diplomas, or transcripts.
- Our team will review and, once approved, your profile will display a Verified Credential badge.
Verification Badges
Once verified, your profile will display a blue checkmark badge, signalling trust to potential students. Verified tutors consistently receive more bookings than unverified profiles.
Common Issues
- Blurry photos: Ensure your ID document is photographed in good lighting with a steady hand.
- Expired documents: We only accept valid, non-expired identification.
- Name mismatch: The name on your ID must match the name on your Tutorverse profile.
